The university “bilgi” was founded in Istanbul in 1994 by the scientific center of the United States of America. Since then, the university has made every effort to provide the highest levels of education. The university has 150 educational programs distributed in seven colleges, four schools and three institutes. The university has 25,000 students in its programs and 30.000 university graduates. Also, it provides students with the exchange system around the world, particularly in Europe.
The university is considered highly active with more than 1,000 activities held in the university’s campuses.
The university has its own newspaper with more than 600 international publications. “Istanbul Bilgi University Press” is one of the best Turkish universities.
The university has a collection of valuable libraries, which are distributed in all the buildings. In addition, each building has a specific location that provides students with the resources in printed and non-printed format for search, also, there are audiovisual library specifically for student usage.
In this regard, the International Office of Arel University was established in 2009. As for the distribution of students who choose Istanbul Arel University, they are mainly from the Middle East, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Africa and the Gulf region.
Istanbul Arel University strives to rapidly develop into a world-class university. It is developing cooperation with European universities and arranging for admission of students from these countries.
In this context, one of the main objectives of the International Office is to increase opportunities for enhancing cooperation with universities in America, Canada, Africa, the Middle East, Japan and China.

The university is accredited by the Turkish Ministry of Higher Education, approved by the European Union, and the United States of America. This contributes to the expansion of the student exchange program worldwide.

Bilgi University joined the network “Laureate International” in 2006. The network conducts exchanges between faculty members and students, participating in the curriculum, and develops dual-degree programmes with new resources. Bilgi students become part of the largest university network around the world, which comprises 150 universities in 28 countries and over 1 million students worldwide.
Dual-Exchange System:
The bilateral exchange program allow Bilgi students to study in educational institutions in North America, as well as exchange program within the EU countries. Bilgi University has over 700 agreements with more than 200 universities in 26 European countries as part of Erasmus program only.
